The architectural design of this rock ‘n roll museum was the mastermind of Frank O. Gehry, whose history of innovative design spans many years and multiple countries. The EMP is Gehry’s first project in the Pacific Northwest, where the climate demands particular attention to moisture protection.

Gehry’s office, along with Vulcan Northwest, the owner, and Hoffman Construction paid particular attention when evaluating the qualifications and bids from waterproofing sub-contractors. In addition to a competitive price, the waterproofing sub-contractor needed qualifications above and beyond, including:

  • Solid reputation for quality work completed on time and within budget
  • Documented history in the local market
  • Long track record applying American Hydrotech’s Monolithic Membrane 6125, the selected waterproofing membrane

Snyder Roofing

Snyder Roofing met all these criteria, and more. Their qualifications demonstrate the proven success this project demanded:
  • 75 years in the industry
  • Strong local presence with hundreds of high-profile jobs
  • 15 year relationship with American Hydrotech
  • A long list of completed American Hydrotech projects in the Pacific Northwest

Given the seamless progression of Snyder’s application, the decision has proven a good one. The project demanded long hours, careful, complex coordination and plenty of physical exertion. Snyder Roofing has maintained its standard of quality and efficient performance.
